Another week of salmon fishing and on most the rivers things are still tough. There is a lack of water and also a lack of salmon. Grilse runs seem to be weak while the mws runs earlier were no more than average at best. There are pockets where the fishing is good along with the waterlevels, but those pockets are few. They are in short in the central south where the Rangá rivers dominate, the East Rangá having been outstanding and the West Rangá recovering after a slow start, and in the northeast were the main rivers of Þistilfjörður and Vopnafjörður are having good spells.
Following is the weekly list, the first number is the total catch on the evening of the 24rth. Following is the weekly total and the numbers in the clauses are former weekly totals so our readers may see if the rivers are gaining momentum, loosing it or staying steady.

The East Rangá has by far the highest total and will probably not be overtaken this season. Also worth noting is that the Selá in Vopnafjörður had the highest catch per daily rod during the last week, with six rods landing 170 salmon over a period of six days, accounting for just under five salmon per rod per day. Not bad at all. Hofsá, in the same region, is also doing well and worth noting that the river is recovering from devastating floods a few years back. Close by, the Jökla is also getting better and doing well, as are the Hafralónsá and Svalbarðsá further north of Vopnafjörður.
